Now that the story of "Homo Sama no Daibouken" is over, I can finally explain the meaning and reasoning I had for giving them their name. I tried to create some of the stupidest names I can with meaning that relates to the story's setting. You might have not noticed them, as many of them are very common and normal names, but with an idiotic meaning. Not all the characters have meaning in their naming though. The story was filled with many references to anime, manga, video games, and others, and will be explained as well.
Kaisa- The name is taken from the
"Kaiser". It meant to symbolize how he thinks highly of himself.
Nathan- The direct translation in
Hebrew means "gave". In slang, "Nathan" also means
"let to have sex with him".
Aiwanai, Zubi Agaband, and Rikka- All
of them are based around the anime "Loveless". It is an anime about
homosexual characters, which the older one, Agatsuma Soubi is 20 years old, and
the younger Aoyagi Ritsuka is only 12. In the manga it explained (and was only
implied in the anime) all of the characters in the world have cat ears, and
they lose them by having sex. This is how I turned it to the lore of Aiwanai,
and changed the ears to wings. "Aiwanai" is very bad translation of the
show's name "Loveless" from English to Japanese. Zubi's name is taken
from Soubi. The word "Zub" in Arabic also means "dick". The
"band" from his surname "Agaband" meant to symbolize
"Husband" and is taken from the "tsuma" in
"Agatsuma". "Tsuma" in Japanese means "Wife".
Rikka's name is just a shortening of "Ritsuka".
Neo Poker- Taken from the city
"Neo Domino" in the anime, "Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's".
Kaiji Withim- Named after the
character "Ito Kaiji" from the anime "Kaiji". The anime is
about gambling and known for its art style of very big noses. His surname
"Ito" was changed to "Withim". "Ito" in Hebrew
means "With him".
"Blind Eyes Coffee"- Taken
fron the Yu-Gi-Oh card "Blue Eyes White Dragon". The card stats are
3000 ATK and 2500 DEF. This is why Ace pays the payment for the coffee and the
tip of 3000 and then 2500.
Raven Hulk, Ace Satla, Hamly Satla,
Yossi Fade, and Stav Fade- All of them are based on Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's characters.
Raven is taken from "Crow
Hogan". Ravens and Crows are animals from the genus "Corvus".
Some languages, such as my birth language Hebrew don't have words to differentiate
them. The "Hulk" part is taken from the WWF wrestler "Hulk
Hogan".
Ace Satla- Based on "Jack
Atlas". Ace and Jack are both playing cards. Satla is reordering the letters
of Atlas. Also, the word "Satla" in slang in Hebrew means the feeling
after using drugs, thus implying is fate by the Blind Eyes Coffee.
Hamly- Based on "Nagisa Carly".
The word "Carly" in Hebrew means "I feel cold", while
"Hamly" means "I feel hot".
Yossi Fade- Based on "Fudo
Yusei". Fade is taken from Fudo obviously. "Yossi" is a common
name in Hebrew. In Hebrew there is a system called "Nikud" of points
to give vowels to letters. However, for any text meant for people above age of
nine-ten at max, they are never used and you are expected to know the words
from the past. Without Nikud "Yossi" and "Yusei" are
written exactly the same in Hebrew.
Stav- Based on "Izayoi
Aki". "Aki" in Japanese, and "Stav" in Hebrew have the
same meaning- Autumn.
Yotam and Gon- Their name have no
meaning, sadly. They are the only characters in the story along with
Constantine whom name is taken from directly from "Ha'yashvanim" by
Tsach which this story takes some parts of it (with a lot changes to the source
material).
Hikaru Kurosetto and Mai-
"Hikaru" is translating my own personal first name to Japanese.
"Kurosetto" does that as well on my second first name, but in
Gibberish way. Try to guess what my name now…!!! His design (Showed at Homo
Sama no Daibouken chapter 4's artwork) is heavily based on my look at age 26.
Yeah, I really had that long hair at the time. Mai's name is taken from the
month "May", the month I was born at. It is also one of my favorite
names for females.
Gon's and Yotam's sex song at chapter
5 of Homo Sama no Daibouken- Based on the song "Drifting Soul" from
the JRPG "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" which appears at the later parts of
the game.
Pinchas- A common Hebrew name among
the older generation. I used the "Pin" part to refer the word
"Pin" which means "Penis" in Hebrew. That's it.
Shmulik- A Common Hebrew name among
the older generation as well. The word "Shmulik" in Hebrew also means
"Dick" in slang.
Omo Phoebe- Both of his surname and
first name are real names. I used them to make a pun on the word
"Homophobe".
Assaf- Taken from the word
"Ass", that's it. And it is also a Hebrew name, yeah.
Jonathan and David- Taken from the
biblical David and Jonathan. It is a misconception that they were gays in the
bible, despite not being truth. Yishai who shows up later, is also named after
biblical Yishai.
Ziv- Named after the word
"Dick", or "Zain" in Hebrew. "Ziv" in Hebrew is a
common name. When writing the word "Ziv" on a computer on a keyboard
it is very easy to write "Zain" by mistake as the letters which
presents "v" and "n" in Hebrew are extremely similar to
each other, and for some reason are next to each other on the keyboard.
The "Cum-eh-Ha-meh-aaahhh"
and "Gang Bang Attack"- Yotam special moves are based on the moves
from the massive hit anime "Dragon Ball", the "Kamehameha"
by the character Goku, and "Big Bang Attack" by Vegeta.
Sergey- A Russian name. It has
"gey" which I used as reference to "gay". That's it.
Heart- Based on the character
"Nero" from Tsach's "Ha'yashvanim". However, it is name is
taken from other character from his story, Butthurt.
Yuri- A Russian name.
"Yuri" as an anime genre means lesbian love genre, but I used it is
the opposite. The anime "Yuri on Ice" did the same.
Richard- There is not even a pun here
nor a something special. The name "Dick" is literally its short form.
Analious- From the word "Anal".
Hans- Another real name. Similar to
Yossi's case, when writing this name in Hebrew without Nikud there is no way to
tell between the name and the word "Ha'anas" which means "The
rapist".
Rob Bobbitt- Named after the
"Bobbitt" real life case that occurred on June 23, 1993. In short,
the case was about the married couple Bobbit. For reasons no need to explain,
the wife cut off her husband's dick at his sleep.
Acami- Named after the character
Yagami Takayuki from the "Judgment" series, a spinoff franchise to
the video game franchise of "Yakuza" (Named also "Like a
Dragon"). The "cam" part refers to "cum". During the
second game, "Lost Judgment", Yagami is called to research the
bullying at a certain school, which Yagami puts cameras for research, including
the toilets.
Anna Sete- I made up the "Sete"
part, but it was necessary for the "Anna" which is a real name. In
Hebrew, combining those words together gets "Anasit" which means in
Hebrew "Female rapist", giving a hint that she is Homo Sama.
Gon's and Yotam's Moaning- Taken from
the battle grunts in Jojo's Bizarre's Adventure of Jotarou/ Jolyne, Dio/
Giorno, and Jousuke.
Fenick Rong- A reference to the
character "Phoenix Wright" from the game franchise of "Ace
Attorney". Similar to how "Wright" was a pun on
"Right" as he will win, "Rong" is similar but to the word
"Wrong" as he will lose.
Homo's Trial Song- Based on the song
"Jolene" by Dolly Parton.
Analee- Obviously, from the word
"Anal".
Ushio and Yuuichi- They are both
references to the anime "Clannad". Ushio is the protagonist's
daughter in the show. The raging of Homo about his terrible name is a nod to
the finale of the anime. The word "Ushi" also means "cow"
in Japanese. Finally, Yuuichi comes from Nakamura Yuuichi, the voice actor of
Tomoya, the show's protagonist.
R34- meant to symbolize "Rule
34"- an internet "rule" which is about that "Everything has
porn if it exists" to symbolize that Yuuichi is a zoophile.
Anal Fantasy- A reference to the
video game JRPG franchise "Final Fantasy". The "gameplay"
itself of "Anal Fantasy" was somewhat based on the WRPG "Kingdom
of Amalur Reckoning".
Tachat, Tusick, and Akhoraim- All of
them are different words for "Butt" in Hebrew.
Fenix Bassa- Based on the item
"Phoenix Down" from "Final Fantasy" and "Bravely
Default" and has the same effect. "Bassa" in Hebrew means
"Bummer". That's why I changed "Down" to "Bassa".
Evarmin- means "Sex Organ"
in Hebrew.
Liver, Wallito, and Anusa- Based on
the characters "Guts" from "Berserk" while Wallito and
Anusa are based on "Kirito" and "Asuna" from "Sword
Art Online". For Guts I cut off the "s" to turn it to
"Gut", and then I changed it to another human organ. For Wallito, I
simply translated the "Kir" part which means "Wall" in
Hebrew. Anusa it two things; first, it means "raped woman" in Hebrew,
and the word "Anus" in English. And indeed, Asuna the original
character was raped too many times in "Sword Art Online".
Anal Fantasy's game credits-
The voices actors names are puns
about the voices actor's names of: Asanuma Shintaro, Hanazawa Kana, Kaji Yuki,
Miyano Mamoru, Hayami Show, Caana Nobutoshi, Matsuoka Yoshitsugu, Nakata Jouji,
and Noto Mamiko.
The sex scene designers are puns on
Miura Kentaro (Berserk's author), and Kawahara Reki (Sword Art Online's author).
The bugs "designers" is a pun on Studio Ubisoft. The music composer
is a pun on Mizuki Nana's name, a singer and voice actress.
Autoly- His "Auto" part
taken from the "car" in "Carly", the character whom his
mother is based on.
Gilgamesh- Despite not being a direct
reference to his "Fate Stay Night" version and more about the mythological
one, way he curses with "Zasshu" is a direct reference to his Fate
Stay Night version.
Cid D. Baker- Homo's incarnation from
the "Emu War Chapter". Spelling "Cid" backward and you get
"Dick". That's it.
Ishona 5- Refers to the video game
"Persona 5". Edo's cellphone call refers to one of the most known
songs in the game.
"With a Great Dick Comes a Great
Responsibility"- Refers to "With a Great Power Comes a Great
Responsibility" from Spider-Man.
